Counts differ because each database indexes a different set of publications. We treat OpenAlex as the canonical count; Google Scholar is not shown (no API, and crawling it violates its ToS).
This paper is the umbrella overview of the Vektorgeist research program. It states the program's shared premise and five commitments, and maps them onto the published body of work. The Vektorgeist Method (VGM) is the method behind the Vektorgeist research program: the premise everything is built on, the commitments that shape how it is built, and the reasons behind the engineering choices that repeat across the work. It is an ideology and an engineering practice at once, arrived at by trial and error. The premise, taken literally: nothing is what it is in isolation; a thing, including a self, is the pattern of its connections, not its substrate. From it follow five building rules: own the foundation you build on; use deterministic code wherever it suffices; pair every generation with an explicit check; let a system watch itself only through a channel that cannot steer it; and never install as a component what should arise from the pattern. This paper is the introduction to the program. The full treatment of the afferent self-model is in the companion paper The Afferent Gnosis Model: Self-Knowledge Without Self-Control (Parnell, 2026).
