Counts differ because each database indexes a different set of publications. We treat OpenAlex as the canonical count; Google Scholar is not shown (no API, and crawling it violates its ToS).
This disclosure describes techniques implemented in the Longkan mode of the RuhI Chinese input method: 1. **Post-hoc component fusion**: After a user has entered several syllables in a phonetic input buffer, the user selects a contiguous range of two to four syllables and presses a fusion key. The engine treats the readings of the selected syllables as the readings of components of a single compound character, generates multiple lookup codes from them (full readings, two-key abbreviated readings, tone-suffixed variants, component-multiplicity codes, first-and-last component codes), looks up a compound-character table, and replaces the selected range with the best matching single character while preserving user selections and manual word boundaries elsewhere in the buffer. Because the operation uses syllable readings rather than displayed characters, it works even when the displayed homophones are incorrect.2. **Phono-semantic component coding**: For each character, a code is generated from the reading of its semantic radical and the reading of a representative member of its phonetic series. The representative is chosen from characters sharing the same phonetic group as the simplest, most frequent traditional character.3. **Tolerant multi-track coding in a single table**: Multiple coding tracks (component readings in a Bopomofo-based double-pinyin layout, Hanyu Pinyin full readings, visual Latin-letter pictographs, component multiplicity "C×N") coexist in a single table without mode switching, with exact matches always ranked before prefix previews.4. **Single-word borrowing of an auxiliary input method** inside an ongoing phonetic composition, with automatic return to the primary input method. This document is published as a defensive disclosure to establish prior art.
