Counts differ because each database indexes a different set of publications. We treat OpenAlex as the canonical count; Google Scholar is not shown (no API, and crawling it violates its ToS).
The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI, has transformed User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design.Traditionally a human-centered discipline built on creativity, empathy, and iterative evaluation, UX design now increasingly involves AI tools that generate interface concepts, recommend components, analyse user behaviour, and support prototyping.Yet limited research examines how UX professionals actually collaborate with AI and what determines successful AI-assisted design practice. This research develops and validates a Human-AI Assisted UI Design Framework (HAUIDF), integrating Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HCAI), the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Human-AI Teaming Theory, and Distributed Cognition Theory. The framework links AI transparency, explainability, and design capability; perceived usefulness, ease of use, and human control; AI trust and collaborative creativity; to UX productivity, design quality, designer satisfaction, and continued AI adoption intention.A mixed-method design is proposed: a quantitative survey of 300-400 UX professionals analysed with PLS-SEM (SmartPLS 4), complemented by 15-25 semi-structured interviews analysed thematically. The expected contribution is an empirically grounded account of AI as a collaborative design partner rather than an automation tool, offering theoretical contributions to HCI and AI-adoption research and practical guidance for designers, organizations, and AI tool developers pursuing human-centered AI workflows.
