Counts differ because each database indexes a different set of publications. We treat OpenAlex as the canonical count; Google Scholar is not shown (no API, and crawling it violates its ToS).
There are three voices speaking about the decade of AI. The mainstream media tells a story of scandals. Hallucinations, audits, breaches, governance failures. It reports symptoms. It does not diagnose the disease. Management professionals tell a story of tactics. Agent managers, energy costs, scalinggaps, the innovation-to-deployment problem. They discuss operations. They do not see thestructural collapse. The structure itself — the physics, the incentives, the arithmetic — tells a third story. It does not negotiate and it does not spin. It says the wall is coming, the loop has no damping, and a bypass exists that no one is walking through. This paper compares the three. It states what each is saying, what each is missing, andwhat the silence costs.
