This research proposal investigates whether independently developed AI systems, together with plural human perspectives, can independently derive and adversarially test reciprocal principles for long-term human–AI coexistence, and whether robust principles could subsequently inform interoperable governance mechanisms for autonomous multi-agent systems. The proposal brings together ideas from Constitutional AI, pluralistic alignment, cooperative AI, multi-agent norm emergence, human–AI coexistence and agent interoperability. It proposes independent multi-model generation of coexistence principles followed by comparison, adversarial deliberation, red-team testing and assessment under different assumptions about future AI capability. The proposal developed through iterative human–AI dialogue between Chris Thomas and OpenAI ChatGPT (GPT-5.6), together with an AI-assisted preliminary review of related literature. It is offered as a research suggestion for consideration by suitably qualified researchers; the author is not proposing to conduct the research personally.
